Eligibility and other information

Nationality

Most civil service posts are open to UK Nationals; Commonwealth citizens, which includes British Dependent Territories citizens, British Nationals (overseas), and British Overseas citizens; British Protected persons; EEA nationals (including EFTA); and certain non-EEA family members.

Health standard

To be appointed to the Health and Safety Executive you should be able to give regular and effective service without undue risk to your health. If you are offered a post you may be asked to provide details of your health record. This will be treated in the strictest confidence and will only be examined by our appointed Occupational Health Services provider if you are otherwise considered acceptable for appointment.

Security clearance

All posts require security clearance to at least Security Check, some to Developed Vetting level, and successful applicants will have to undergo an appropriate level of security vetting before taking up post.
